Zuli Smartplug Presence 3-Pack

 

The Zuli Smartplug Presence lets you turn appliances and lights on and off, track power usage, and program schedules, but its dimming and networking features are underwhelming.

Monitors power and cost consumption. Neat Presence feature. Works with Nest and Philips Hue devices.

No Android support (yet). Bluetooth only. Wasn't able to dim bulbs in testing.

The Bluetooth Presence technology is precise, plus energy tracking, Nest integration, and dimming all make this a veritable Renaissance plug.

The lack of remote access is annoying, and Android compatibility and user sharing both need to be made available before this plug is a clear industry leader.

The Zuli Smartplug is a versatile and creative product, offering features that are new to the market. Its current quality warrants the cost of entry, and coming updates only sweeten the deal.

This is one of the best connected-home products to reach the market so far, but it's not perfect.

Automatically turns lights on when you enter a room; off when you leave ; Doesn’t require a hub, motion sensor, or any other device ; Can schedule lights to turn and off while you’re away

Works only with the iPhone (or iPod or iPad with 3G) ; Works only with plug-in devices; can’t control recessed lighting ; Must have your iOS device on your person

Zuli’s proximity concept is a genius idea that’s mostly well executed, but Android users need not apply.
