Toshiba Excite 10 review: a 10-inch ICS tablet that puts the Thrive to shame

More Info Toshiba announces Excite 10, 7.7 and 13 tablets, Thrive slates on their way out Toshiba Excite 10 ICS tablet goes on sale, prices

Thinner, lighter design than the Thrive tablet ; Full-size SD card slot ; Smooth performance

Performance glitches, especially when running camera app ; Display suffers from backlight bleeding ; Poor camera

The $450 Toshiba Excite 10 offers good performance thanks to its quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, but it's not the best Ice Cream Sandwich tablet at this price.

Toshiba Excite 10

The Excite 10 is one of the most powerful and beautifully designed 10-inch tablets you can buy right now, but it can't match the iPad on features, and there are better values in the Android world.

Slim. Well-built aluminum exterior. Fast quad-core processor. Full-size SD card slot.

High price for features.

Conclusions The Toshiba Excite 10 is everything the Excite 10 LE should have been, with a faster quad-core processor and better build quality. It's among the most-capable Android tablets available today, but you can find similar performance and more...

Toshiba Excite 10 review

Not two months after its release of the "thinnest and lightest" tablet, the Toshiba 10 LE , Toshiba is back with a new 10-inch tablet: the Toshiba Excite 10.

The Toshiba Excite 10 supports a huge 128GB expandable memory slot, has fast Tegra 3-induced performance, a comfortable design, and Android 4.0 capabilities.

Backlight bleeding is obvious when viewing black screens on the tablet. Also, its data connection cable is unwieldy, camera performance is unimpressive, and the price is a bit too expensive compared with what's available on the market.

The Toshiba Excite 10 provides Tegra 3 performance and huge expandable memory potential, but is priced a bit too high compared with other tablets.

Toshiba Excite 10 LE

The thinnest you can buy right now, the Toshiba Excite 10 LE is a fine midrange Android tablet, but you're paying a premium for its slim design.

Slimmest tablet on the market. Ships with Android 4.0.

Price/performance doesn't match the competition. Some media playback issues.

Multimedia and Conclusions The Excite 10 LE comes with 16GB of on-board memory, and our 64GB SanDisk memory card worked in the microSD card slot. The tablet played all of our music and video formats, including H.264, MPEG4, WMV, DivX, and XviD up to...

Toshiba Excite 10 LE Review: Lightweight Tablet, Unfortunate Display

In a sea of me-too tablet slabs, the Toshiba Excite 10 LE—running Android 3.0 (Honeycomb)—distinguishes itself on two key metrics. First, at 1.18 pounds, it's the lightest 10-inch-size tablet we've seen to date. Second, it's the slimmest, measuring...

Lightweight tablet is easy to hold one-handed ; Has numerous ports

Display is marred by a tattoo-like touch-grid ; Doesn't feel sturdy

Toshiba's Excite is the thinnest and lightest 10-inch-class tablet at the time of its launch; but it also has a subpar display and is pricey.

Toshiba Excite 10 LE review

You can rarely go wrong by making a product thinner and lighter. Toshiba, a company whose first foray into Android tablets was a relative behemoth, is showing the world that its designers can do "thin" better than anyone. Yes, even better than Apple.

The Toshiba Excite 10 LE is the thinnest, lightest 10-inch tablet yet, an achievement made more impressive by the inclusion of HDMI, Micro-USB, and microSD memory expansion.

The proprietary charging adapter is a beast; the screen is so-so; the internal speakers sound thin; and the construction quality looks better than it feels.

The Toshiba Excite 10 LE sets a new design standard for thin and light 10-inch tablets, but the specs don't live up to the name.

Toshiba Excite 10 LE review

First it was the Toshiba AT200, then it was the Excite X10, and now it's the Excite 10 LE. Toshiba's latest tablet has a very distinct claim to fame: it's the thinnest 10-inch tablet on the market....

Thin and light ; Plenty of accessible ports

Inconsistent, poor performance ; Feels poorly put together ; Buggy, crash-prone software ; Way too expensive for the tablet market

Thin isn't worth the tradeoffs

Toshiba Excite 10 LE Review

The Toshiba Excite 10 LE, still the thinnest you can buy now, was one of my favorite gadget to launch at CES this year, and I could not wait to play with this super light and beautifully crafted Android tablet. The [...]

The most valuable feature of the Toshiba Excite 10 LE is its light and ultra thin body that features a stylish design.

Toshiba Excite 10 Review

Тhe Toshiba Excite 10 is undoubtedly pushing forward as being a more compelling and exciting device thanks to an updated design and its top-notch specs. No doubt it's brushing up against some other competitive offerings with its starting price point of...

Solid aluminum body ; Fast quad-core processor

Bleeding around the sides of the display ; Shoots terrible photos & videos

Above all, we have to admit that we truly love the direction that Toshiba has gone with this tablet, as it seemingly obliterated all remnants of the Toshiba Thrive from last year that has floated around in our heads. Donning a vastly better looking...
